I open email about 50 times a day. All day long, I’m opening email. The first thing I do, is highlight, and delete bullshit. Emails from Starbucks, car insurance, some free trial starts, a free trial ends, join the gym, etc. Bullshit. I delete all of it. I never read sales emails. There’s no point in sending them.

What qualifies as quality content? I promise that any email, asking for anything is a big fat No. Get out of the habit of asking for things. We all know that one friend, who asks for something every time they open their mouth. You know if they’re talking, it’s costing you time. Don’t be that person.

Why build an email list, if I’m not going to use it?

I would message all of them directly, and offer something. You don’t want it to cost you too much, but maybe some type of service that doesn’t put you out, but offers value to the band. This is a basic idea, but my point is to put thought into it. Don’t just send an email so you can say you did something today.

How do I build my email list?

You should be thinking more about how to make sure people are thinking of you, when it’s time to buy.

Creating quality content for your business is easy, if you have a template. I can help make it easy for you and your team.

Personally, I say just start filming and something will click. When it does, lean into it. If you’re authentic, honest, and likable, you’re good to go. Just start recording.

Nobody reads your emails.

Do they need that email? If not, that’s okay. If you put out quality videos, they may end up buying from you at some point. Be more strategic with emails. How can you send one, and not ask for anything?

I get emails from Starbucks every day. I never open them, and their coffee is trash.

It’s okay to start small. Send an email to only the people you know. See how many actually respond. If most of them do, your email was probably pretty good. If your own friends and family don’t respond, potential customers are likely to trash it. Practice before you go nuts spamming people.

I create content for a local guitar shop, in spring Branch, Texas. Let’s say you sell Guitars, and you’re interested in reaching the local community. The first thing I would do is make a list of all the bars in the area that offer music from bands or singers. I would research and follow all of the bands on Instagram.

This brings more value to your service, and the email you eventually send to them. The email stands a higher chance of being opened. In short, just don’t be annoying and people will open your emails.

This is specific for a small shop, in a small town. Those still exists, and thank God they do. If you’re in Los Angeles, the strategy would be different. Maybe we’d do some ad buys. It depends on the business. If you have a larger business, the strategy would be different. If you have a bigger business and need to reach more people, you’ll need to work harder to come off like a human.

Your customers will appreciate not wasting their time on nonsense. I could be wrong. Maybe annoying emails work, and you get excited by State Farm flooding your inbox.
