Why Join Dope Creative Studios?
I own the studio, so I’m going to look at this from the perspective of an actor in San Antonio — or even Austin. Honestly, Austin isn’t that far. Texas traffic is pretty cute compared to Los Angeles, and there’s plenty of stress-free parking here.
But aside from that, here are the three things I believe bring the most value to an actor.
1. Consistent Filming
This is probably one of the biggest reasons actors in San Antonio will join. Throughout the month, we plan for your filming day. We develop ideas, figure out what you need for your reel, and then actually shoot it. The video quality is professional, editing is included, and you’re always welcome to the RAW footage. I also keep copies of everything we shoot, so as your material grows, we can continue building on it. The goal isn’t to talk about creating content. It’s to consistently create it. Here is the calendar. This changes from time to time, but no matter what you’ll have access to events every week.
2. On-Camera Workouts
To me, this may be the biggest value of the membership. The more time you spend in front of a camera, the better you become. Working on camera is a skill, and like any other skill, it only improves through repetition. It’s like working out. The more you do it, the stronger you get. We offer on-camera workouts four nights a week. You can bring your own sides, or I’ll have material here for you. We can work on cold reading, improv, character development, scene work, or whatever you feel you need. And if you have an audition, use that time to shoot your self-tape. There’s no time limit and no limit on the number of takes. We keep working until you’re happy with it.
3. The Writers Room
This is probably my favorite part. I believe actors should always be creating something for themselves. Everyone has that dream character they’d love to play. The Writers Room gives you a place to start figuring out who that character is and how to bring them to life. No writing experience? It doesn’t matter. You just need ideas. And if you don’t have ideas yet, come anyway. I’ll help you find them.
The more you start thinking like a creator instead of waiting for someone else to cast you, the more creative you become. Over time, we can build demo reel footage, create and film an ongoing series, develop IMDb credits that actually correspond with the work on your reel, and most importantly, build confidence through consistently working on camera.
One More Thing. I can be annoying. If you disappear for two weeks, there’s a good chance I’m calling you.
